For internet marketing, SEO or search engine optimization is an important tool. The tool helps to get a higher ranking for your website when searched by search engines. A website oriented to search engine marketing and optimization will ideally attract a larger traffic. This could be beneficial to your website as well as your business.

An internet marketing search engine uses crawling software to search for keywords on your websites matching words in its database. The keywords may be single word or multiple words representing phrases. The ranking of a website is usually determined both by the keyword density, and the type of keywords used. Keywords using phrases will make for a higher ranking. Of course, there are other factors, which further govern the overall ranking of a web-page or a website in an engine marketing search.

Internet search marketing optimization techniques bring certain benefits to your website, the major benefit being, visibility. Your website, however well it may have been designed, is useless, unless people can find it when they search. Another benefit which you get automatically, when your website is optimized for SEO internet marketing, is that it gets optimized for users as well.

In case your website has multiple pages, as most websites do, during internet search marketing optimization, you will be optimizing the pages and their contents such that the crawlers of the search engine can navigate easily throughout your website. The idea here is that if a software crawler is able to navigate your website successfully, so can a human.

Basic aspects of optimization for search engines are finding the right keywords and phrases; then placing these keywords and phrases, at strategic locations, on the main and internal pages. The strategic locations could be page titles, headings and links. Design of the web-page has to follow standards of search engine marketing strategies to allow all search engines to easily navigate it. The web-page also must be content-rich so that other websites will want to link with it.

Major search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN provide easily available guidelines. Your web-site should follow these guidelines and be optimized to enable these websites to search. One option is to employ an external internet marketing agency to optimize your website as per the guidelines of the major search engines. The selection of the search engine optimization specialists could be based on whether the agency’s own website is located by the search engines on their first search page.

How to know if your website is optimized for search engine marketing strategies? Or, how much improvement was come about after you have done the modifications required for SEO? Questions like these are answered by Web Analytics and Conversion Optimization. A Website analytics service will provide information such as which search engines are sending traffic to the website; what important keywords should you be using; what is the return on investments for ppc campaign versus search engine traffic; how successful are the conversions done by other online marketing campaigns.

As always, there are some dos and don’ts related to everything. The same applies to internet search marketing as well. As with any other marketing campaigns, this new technological method of marketing does change some aspects of the marketing methods, but the basic nature of supply and demand still prevails. It is not that internet search marketing is a panacea for all marketing problems, or that, using this method your business will start flourishing overnight.

Traditional methods of marketing have had a long time to evolve, and many gurus have left their time-tested methods recorded in print. However, Internet search marketing is relatively young, and it is very easy to lose your way, since there are many unknown paths available. Looking a little deeper into the whole affair of internet search marketing, it is not difficult to see, that though the means have changed, the end remains the same.

The basic necessity of marketing, looking for demand, and filling it up with proper supply and in the process generating a profit, was the goal then, and still is the goal now, including an internet marketing website. Someone still makes a shoe, and you also need to buy one to cover your feet; but, now, instead of physically visiting his shop, you visit an online store, by clicking on a Google-sponsored link, from the comfort of your home, and purchase one with your credit card. The shoe is delivered to your door.

Information alone does not sell products, and so it is for a web marketing company. You bought only one shoe, and left out several thousand others. The same happens with all products. Unless the customer can see themselves as part of the campaign, they will not find interest. You may need to use your ingenuity, artful design, fresh storytelling and more to entice your visitor to buy from you. This, after they have been brought to your website with the help of search engine advertising and marketing PPC.

You will still need to differentiate your customers as of old. You have to pay attention to the needs of that section of customers, who regularly visit you. In the same way, as an internet marketing specialist, you need to know, out of all customers landing on your website, who can generate the most profits for you, and pay special attention to address his requirements.

All products and services were never equal, and they are not so now. You must prioritize your most important services, which bring you the highest chances of profitability. These services, your internet marketing solutions, should be highlighted on your website, so they are easily found.

As with any other business, your web marketing services, need to both hunt and farm. Since about 80% of the revenue comes from existing customers, and it costs about six or seven times to attract new customers, it is worthwhile to retain and reward the old ones.

Huge traffic, through PPC search marketing, directed to your internet marketing website, is definitely something to look forward to and cherish, but, unless that number is converted into sales, it does not mean anything. The best strategy is not to attract a general crowd, but, to get the right clients, using proper SEO adwords that will generate profits for you.

You want your website to stand out to your customers, in order to get more website traffic and generate more revenue. That sums up the whole gamut of hosting a web-site and offering services on it. To do this you have to get your web-site geared up to the requirements of the search engines and your customers. One of the ways to do this would be to hire the services of an SEO company, to do it for you. When it comes to adopting an SEO campaign, the end results are quite specific. Either the campaign succeeds and your web-site sees more traffic, or it does not and the traffic remains the same.

Naturally, you would have a budget for the SEO campaign. Any professional SEO that can do the organic search engine optimization, and bring in the results, within your budget is affordable for you. However, to hire an SEO consultant to achieve the end results, you will have to choose from quite a few, as is evident from a Google search. So, how to know if the consultant will really be able to pull traffic to your website? Major issues with the consultants end up with the content of the website. To boost up the ranking of the website, the consultant can fill up the content with keywords, to the extent that the content loses intelligibility. However, a good and capable writer can produce decent enough content if given helpful key phrases to work with.

Well, SEO is not about somehow jacking up the rankings in the search engines. Web optimization services, if it makes the content of the web-site lose its orientation towards the product and services offered, is definitely not the answer, even if it brings high rankings. Traffic to such a website may be high, but the conversion rate will remain low, if the visitor to the website dislikes the content.

Affordable SEO, therefore, must concentrate on giving the visitor an interesting and intelligent web-site. The web-site should be so designed that the visitor will feel he has arrived at the right place and finds the contents interesting. If the web-site is able to make the visitor feel positive, there is a greater possibility of converting the visit to a sale, and thereby revenue.

Your web-site after having undergone a SEO web optimization by an affordable SEO, should ideally work like this – The visitor types in his search keyword; the search engine shows the websites ranked as per the keyword and your website is within the top three; the visitor reaches your site and reviews the contents; the web-site offers the products as per the keyword, and if the content is well written, and as per what he requires, the visitor may make a sale.

In reality, affordable SEO can help to grow natural website traffic without much effort if it is put into practice carefully and if the content of the web-site delivers to the visitor what they came to look for.

Internet traffic is driven by engine marketing search. For a flourishing online business, you need to have a targeted, effective and viable SEM search engine marketing plan. Without a targeted search engine marketing plan, many business enterprises started on the internet have simply withered away. The targeted search engine marketing plan is becoming the highly important way of endorsing and advertising any product or service. SEO marketing as it stands today is about getting the web-site to the top of the list of searches on the search engine results page.

The most important step is the analysis of the search terms that the target user is typing when using the search engine. The search terms, also called the keywords and phrases, are the platform and basic foundation for the web content development and SEM search engine marketing. The keywords and phrases have to be researched to know their importance and their ranking with the search engine. They have to be used in strategic positions, to enable the search engines to find them.

The next step is to make sure the website contains high quality information. For internet SEM marketing to be successful, the more traffic you can pull the better for your sales. Great content and more important, high quality content is a must if you want the search engine to make a high ranking of your website. Another point to note, good content is the only way you can get your visitor to remain interested in your website and also to make a possible sale.

SEO search engine optimization of your website content will make it visible to the internet search engine. The keywords and key phrases embedded in your website at strategic places will make this possible. However, the key words and phrases should not make the content lose its intelligibility. They need to be woven into the content and should appear seamless. The content depends a lot on how well it is presented to the visitor.

Link building is necessary to draw traffic from different parts of the internet to your website. You need to submit the URL of your website to several of the web and search directories online. You may even go for a PPC advertising to strengthen the traffic build-up.

Once all this is done, monitoring regularly and making necessary changes is the most important step. The only target now is to get more and more website traffic to your site. Quality traffic is important because you should be getting traffic from people who are looking for the type of business and services you offer, since it is from this type of traffic you can expect sales and ultimately revenue. There is no point in getting a huge traffic of people who are looking for something else and have landed on your web-page by mistake. This mistake can happen with the wrong type of keyword or wrong links and also because of distortion of the contents due to improper optimization.

A virus can cause harm to a computer, its programs and files stored in it. Lost data can usually be recovered by data recovery programs. A virus may be simple enough to cause the computer to halt, or it may be as complicated as a spyware that sends information back to the creator. Most computer viruses can attach themselves to all types of files used. They commonly attack the boot information of the computer and the hard disk boot sector. The virus is thus able replicate itself when you reboot your computer.

There are three ways in which a computer virus is spread; using removable media, use of downloaded files, and using email attachments. Viruses do not spread by the plain text files of emails, but through files attached to the mails. However, only after the attachment is opened by the user, can the virus become active. Worms and Trojans are also threats, which do not replicate themselves like viruses. They wait for some trigger, and then they proceed to steal information to send back to their creator.

Computer viruses were first seen in the 1980s. They appeared in the mainframes such as UNIVAC 1108 and IBM 370. The viruses made life miserable for the early users by disabling system files, hard drives, and speakers. Anti-virus software started to appear for tackling the Brain virus which attacked the boot sector of PCs. This was probably the first virus to attack PCs. Initially, the anti-virus programs were virus specific, but soon their growing number caused companies to develop full-fledged software packages to remove viruses from computers.

Viruses can cause a complete failure of a computer or server. They can cause identity theft and information loss. They may cause a user’s browser to get redirected. They may also be used to place certain ads and unwanted links on the user’s web-page. Viruses can also affect the boot sector and render the computer useless. But the most damage they can do is when they enter the registry files. The passwords and configuration files contained therein may get stolen. Most anti-virus programs use a list of known viruses and their patterns to detect them. Special anti-virus programs are needed to cleanup computer with specific malware and spyware.

Threats from viruses are constantly changing and regular checks should be done to locate them. The anti-virus programs should be updated frequently, and other notifications about viruses should also be tracked. Information is the most sought after today, and most viruses and trojans are designed to retrieve information. Prevention usually takes the form of periodic backup of files and data, running regular scans, and removing the viruses located in the scans. The anti-virus programs used, should also be used to scan the email attachments prior to download. Recovery is then simply a matter of restoring the backed up files after cleaning up your computer. It is recommended to note the identity of the virus and check the anti-virus program has the capability to deal with it in the future.

What are Computers? Different people have different notions of what a computer is. Science fiction has created huge myths about computers, and movies have made them into superheroes. A technical definition of a computer is a computational machine, something that computes or calculates. Different forms of Abacus were in use in China, India and other eastern countries. Charles Babbage made the first computer as a mechanical arrangement. More correct definition of Computers is a machine that can be programmed to accept inputs, can store, manipulate data, and produce a useful output.

If we were to trace the history of computers, of the electronics type, we may know the different types of computers that existed or exist at the present date. The first such computers such as ENIACs in the 1940′s were based on vacuum tubes and were behemoths housed in buildings that had to be cooled by equally huge air-conditioning units. Inputs had to be given via punched data cards, and it took hours to run a program. This system gave way in the 1980s to centralized computing of the DEC-10 types where users got dumb-terminals connected to the centralized unit. The era of Mainframes came next. Some of them are still in present use. Desktop Computers from IBM started appearing around the end of the 80s, with the advent of the microprocessors 8084 and 8086, complete with an Operating System, the PCDOS.

It was in the early 90s that Apple gave the world the first taste of the real desktop Computers. The Macintosh with fantastic and colorful Graphical User Interface changed the way that people saw computers. In the mid 90s, Microsoft came up with the MS-DOS operating system and then with Windows. Desktop Computers grew smaller and more powerful and were now fit to be called Personal Computers or PCs.

Today, the term PC stands more for a computer designed for use by a single person. For a long time, PC was the familiar term people gave to the desktop computer made by Apple Macintosh or Mac. Slowly, it has come to be associated with any desktop computer running the Windows operating system. As days passed, different electronic advancement caused PCs to spawn into various types of computing arrangements. Initially, the biggest hurdle was the memory. That has been overcome now, and has resulted into hand held computers, which have more computing and storage power than their grandfathers and dads.

In the category of Personal Computers, today, there are Laptops, Netbooks, and the PDA. Desktops had the computer electronics in a separate box also housing the power supply and the hard disk. The display, keyboard and mouse separately connected to it with cables. In the Laptop all of them were integrated together in one package. Laptops were small and light enough to be carried around.

The success and popularity of the Laptop computers encouraged still more compact units called Netbooks. They are lighter and more portable, and have lesser computing power compared to Laptops, as of now. Advancement in the field of memory storage has resulted into still further compactness in the form of hand held Personal Data Assistants or PDAs. They have flash memories in place of hard disks and use touch screen in place of keyboards.

A computer without an internet connection is much like a person marooned on an island, something akin to “Cast Away”. Survival is definitely possible, but isolation and loss of communication takes its toll. A computer, thus isolated, loses its chances of up-gradation and the build-up of security advances. It is also not able to send or receive any communication, effectively cutting you off from one of the major social necessities.

There are several stages how the computer connects to the internet. For the sake of simplicity, we will assume a standalone computer, meaning a machine which is not connected to any other machine in the vicinity. Internet connection could be done in two ways, one, through the telephone lines, or through cable internet. In both cases, a modem is used to connect the computer. A modem (modulator/demodulator) is a device for converting the telephone analog telephone signals into digital signals the computer will understand, and also to convert the computer’s digital signals to suitable analog signals, that the telephone wires can carry.

Your computer once on the internet will usually connect to a server of an internet provider, or Internet Service Provider, ISP. You will need to pay service charges to your provider for connecting to the internet. In return for the payment, the service provider will give you the facility to connect to the net, use the internet browser, and to send and receive electronic mail. In some cases, the service provider may also give you an e-mail address and some space to store your mails on his server. The rates for the services will vary, mainly on account of the internet speed chosen and the total amount of data that you will be allowed to transfer.

The ISP will give you an address with which you will be able to get internet access. For receiving and sending mails, you will be given an e-mail identity. The addresses and identity that we are talking of are very much like your name and address used by the Postal department to locate your house and you.

All computers on the internet are given an IP number called the Internet Protocol number. This is unique for each computer and takes the form 198.162.235.246, which is quite tedious for a person to remember. Therefore, an easier process is applied, that of attaching a name to the number. It is called the DNS or the Domain Name System. A name, usually of the form myisp.com is used to replace the IP number. This name has to be registered with a name registering authority; to ensure no one else will be able to use it, at least till the registration is valid. Your Internet Service Providers have registered the server name as myisp.com. The mail addresses then take the form mymail@myisp.com. The “mymail” part is defined by the user.

The server of your Internet Service Providers is usually called the host server. When you connect and want to visit say, www.google.com, the host will first connect to a DNS server to translate the address to its equivalent numerical IP. Then it will connect to its “backbone”, the telecommunications channel to connect to the World Wide Web, WWW, to serve you with the pages from your desired IP address.

How do you locate a site suitable for advertising on web for your business? This can be one of the hardest things, especially for newcomers. A website which will effectively advertise and bring traffic to your business is the primary requirement of anyone who is planning to advertise on the web. However, with some simple instructions and a few web utilities, it is easy to locate a good advertising platform.

First you should locate a keyword suitable to your business. If instead of a single keyword you can locate a phrase, it is even better. The keyword or phrase chosen, should be related to your business, and should be able to describe as much of it as possible. To locate your keyword, you can try the Keyword Tools of Google AdWords. Using the keyword or phrase chosen, do a Google search. Google being the most widely used search engine marketers on the web will get you more results than any other.

The first page from your Google engine marketing search with the keyword or phrase chosen will show you the results from which you can select where you may place your advertisement for your product, service or business. Some research will be necessary here. Start with the top link of the first page results, and try to locate the link to advertising on the site. They will usually mention the type of advertisements they will carry and their rates. Make a note of their details and move to the next site on the list of results. Most likely, only a few will have advertising services available, and these are the pages which you will target for your advertisements.

However, just because a website shows up on the first page of Google’s engine marketing search results, does not guarantee that your advertisement on it will generate traffic. A generous amount of investigation here will allow you to locate a website that can really generate the required traffic. This depends on the link popularity of the website.

A potential advertising source, in order to generate substantial traffic, should carry a significant popularity index. The popularity index of a website for different search engines can be known by entering its URL in SubmitExpress.com. Alternately, Windows users may download a free tool called the Link Popularity Check from Axandra.com. Using either method, test each of the advertising websites you had shortlisted earlier, and check the popularity index of each. This will tell you who you could advertise with.

Now, armed with this advanced knowledge of the popularity of the potential advertising websites, and limited by your budget, you can start to place your advertisements. However, the higher the Google results are for your partner, more significant will be the traffic generated to your advertisements. On the other hand, the expenses of putting up the advertisements with such a highly visible partner may also be equally large. You may have to balance the two and settle for a partner who is affordable for you and at the same time able to generate good enough traffic for you.

The hard disk in your computer is the storage for your Operating System, various application software, data and work files. Windows users will recognize this as mainly the C: partition, but it is the total combination of all the other hard disk partitions as well, with the exception of A: and B: which are legacies from the Floppy drive era. A new PC with Windows 7 installed in it will usually not have more than one partition denoted as the C: and the CD/DVD drives will show up as D: and E: if there are two of them. The user is required to create further partitions as necessary.

Before we actually delve into the practicalities of hard disk partition in Windows 7, we should know why we need disk partitioning. The three major reasons are separation of the OS from the working files, proper organization of data, and security. The OS if kept separated from the working files can be upgraded or re-installed, etc. without disturbing the rest of the system. Backups of the OS can also be kept separated from that of the rest. With partitioning, it becomes easier to organize your working files. You may keep your research work in one partition, and your regular work files in another. All your music and entertainment files can remain in one while another partition may hold your brother’s bodybuilding related files. Further, you can safeguard sensitive data on a partition by using the bitlocker facility in Windows 7 (Ultimate Edition only).

Windows 7 hard disk partition information is held in the partition table in the MBR or Master Boot Record of the Hard Disk. Four primary partitions are allowed, or more strictly speaking, three primary partitions, and one extended partition. The extended partition can be further subdivided. It is a requirement of the Windows OS that it has to be located in the first primary partition, also designated as C:

Hard Disk partition tools in Windows 7 comprise of the built-in Disk Management Utility. The utility can be reached through the Control Panel, by typing “partitions” in the search panel on the top right corner. You will be able to see “Create and Format Hard Disk Partitions” under administrative tools, on the left. This opens up the Disk Management Utility, showing the various partitions and their volumes. Any volume that you want to re-size can be selected to shrink or extend. Of course, the extend volume will only work if there is continuous free space available on the disk.

Using the Disk Management Utility requires some amount of computer knowledge for most users. One precaution that would be necessary to start with is a complete backup of all data and files on the disk, since partitioning is usually linked with loss of data. However, the shrink and extend features of the Disk Management Utility of the hard disk partition tools in Windows 7, takes care of the loss of data to a large extent. Still, it is better to be on guard by creating backups and restore points.

Of the numerous operating systems available in the market, three are most popular. Of the three, the Windows and Mac are proprietary, meaning you will need to pay for them before you can use, and the third is open source, and free to use. All of them come in 32- and 64-bit versions, and in CD/DVDs. The Linux operating system has the additional advantage of being available as Live, meaning it can operate from the CD/DVD itself, without being installed on the system hard disk.

Installation of a computer operating system or OS, on a clean hard disk, could be taken up with or without partitioning the hard disk. All the three OSs mentioned, contain their individual tools for the partitioning job. Windows 7 is the latest of the Windows Operating Systems. It will give ample choice for partitioning the hard disk before installation, if you were to select the custom mode. The minimum configuration necessary to install a Windows 7 OS is a 1GHz Intel CPU and 1GB RAM, along with about 20GB of free hard disk space. In case you have data on the hard disk, it is wise to keep a backup. Installation is quite simple and straightforward. With the installation disk placed in the CD/DVD tray, reboot your system, and follow the instructions. You will be asked to enter your name and password, and after the installation, you will be asked for the product key.

For Installing the Mac Operating System X, much the same procedure is required. For partitioning with the Mac OS, they provide a Disk Utility. The minimum configuration necessary to install a Mac OS X is a 1GHz Intel CPU and 1GB RAM, along with about 5GB of free hard disk space. The hard disk space here is the minimum requirement for the OS alone; other applications will require additional disk space. Again, different versions of Mac OS are available. They have varying capabilities and their prices differ. Installation, in general, consists of booting your PC with the CD/DVD in the tray, and following instructions. You will have to keep an internet connection during installation. Here the product key is asked before installation can proceed. The username and password are required at the end of installation.

For the Linux Operating System, you have a choice of either using your OS straight from the Live CD/DVD, or transferring the OS to a flash disk and use without ever touching your hard disk. If you so wish, you can also install on your hard disk. The hard disk partitioning tool is named GParted, and is very easy and intuitive to use. The Live disk has the capability to select the OS from your hard disk or use the one on the CD/DVD. After the operation from the CD/DVD is completed, you have the choice of making a Live Flash disk or install on the hard disk. If you install on the hard disk, you will be asked for a username and password.
